How To…
Use the New Blend Modes in Digital Scrapbook Artist 2

With Valentine’s Day approaching and birthdays occurring throughout the year, we thought we’d show you how to use the new blend mode feature on your homemade greetings cards. Blend modes define how two objects or layers interact with each other and by using them you can achieve stunning results quickly and with ease.

The card below was made using Digital Scrapbook Artist 2 and we are going to complete it by applying blend modes to the two photos. We have used the same photo twice to show you how different blend modes affect the same object depending on what it is blended with.

Scrapbook

1. Click on the top photo and then select the Luminosity blend mode (the blend modes are located in the Color tab). The picture will take on the color of the layer below; in this case, it’s pink.

2. Click on the second photo and select the Hard Light blend mode. The photo will take on the texture of the background making it look like the photo is actually printed on the material.

Blend modes are a powerful design tool and can be used in many ways to make your creations look fantastic.

Creating Beautiful Keepsakes is Easy!

Posted on December 28th, 2009 by admin.
Categories: My Thoughts, Scrapbook Ad, Scrapbook Articles, Training.

Dear Scrapbook Friend,

Create beautiful keepsakes and preserve your most treasured Christmas memories…

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and that you’ve got some memorable family photographs capturing the festivities. With the post Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza clean up in full swing, it’s easy to get caught up in the cleaning and simply file pictures away in a box or on your hard drive.

How much is forgotten and lost when you do that?

Why not simply preserve your memories by creating an easy, no mess, digital scrapbook or Christmas memory book.  It’s perfectto share with your loved ones or give as a New Year gift?

Shouldn’t preserving your families most treasured memories be part of your new years resolution?

As a valued PrincessCrafts Member, you can download all the scrapbook page templates, digital elements and embellishments you need… They’re all included in your Platinum or Gold membership at no additional charge.

No limits, no days of wasted time searching for the right page and most of all, no mess to clean up or time wasted waiting for glue to dry.

You are also saving loads of money as compared to the old fashioned out of date hand scrap methods.  Digital Scrapbook pages can cost as little as 50 cents including printing and even cost less than 50 cents to put your entire memory book on a CD or DVD. Hand scrapped pages cost more than $2.00 for just a simple page with nothing but the photos and some small elements on them.

… OH THE MESS!

Remember the mess it makes to hand scrap?  How about the huge input of time and money to put just one page together? Whole rooms of space needed for storage, tools, cutters, and other expensive equipment… What about the damage the dimensional elements, frames and stones do to your finished book in a very short amount of time? What if you make a mistake? How much does that cost the hand scrapper?

I could go on and on, but the fact is, you know why hand scrapping is so difficult and why you never want to start another project.

Digital scrapbooking has none of the problems associated with out dated hand scrapping processes. Digital takes up no space (your computer is already there), digital makes no mess, digital needs no expensive tools or equipment, digital can be started and stopped at any time and picked back up when time allows again.  Digital is cheap and elements and templates can be used over and over and over again, combined and redesigned. Digital can be mass produced with just the touch of the print button and digital scrapbooking can be viewed on large movie screens or mailed on CD/DVD.  Digital scrapbooks can include sound, music and even the voices of loved ones.  Digital scrapbooks can be made into true hardbound books.

Hand scrapped pages can do none of this!

Digital scrapbooking is really very easy and entire memory books and even wedding albums can be created in a weekend of free time.  You don’t need months to create a scrapbook with digital scrapbooking techniques.  Programs like Serif’s digital scrapbooking Artist or Indigo Rose’s Scrapbook Max allows anyone to create outstanding designs with all the style, texture and charm of a an old fashioned traditional scrapbook – digitally!

Whether you celebrated a baby’s first Christmas, captured the joy on the face of a child opening a much desired Kwanza gift, or took some great group Hanukkah photos of family and friends enjoying their time together, Digital Scrapbooking can help you transform your images into beautiful holiday scrapbook pages. You can then share them digitally – online and via email – or as printed cards and scrapbooks that will be cherished in the New Year and generations beyond.

Click to our secure order site, it’s quick and easy

Create stunning scrapbook memory pages in minutes rather than hours

Making beautiful, textured scrapbook pages is so very easy with Digital Scrapbook Techniques. Take a look at what we’ve produced using only the amazing features and tools you’ll find in our Totally FREE digital scrapbooking 101 Course…

Twas the Night Before Christmas Scrapbook  Baby Scrapbook Page from Computer Scrapbooking 101 Course

Why scrapbook digitally?

Old Fashioned Time Consuming Traditional Scrapbooking is the art of preserving moments and memories, by capturing photos, memorabilia and stories in a visually rich, textured album, and enhancing your photos with dimensional embellishments such as ribbons, buttons and stitches. Digital Scrapbook software lets you do exactly that, but on your computer with no mess, no expensive tools and in a small fraction of the time!

Thanks to Digital Scrapbook techniques, you can store your most treasured family moments as stunning digital scrapbook memory pages that look just like the old expensive hand scrapped pages, but without the cost, time or the mess associated with out of date scrapbook processes!

Plus, with Digital Scrapbooking, sharing your precious memories is easier than ever before too, thanks to its range of flexible printing and sharing options not available to hand scrappers. Why not publish your finished scrapbook on our very own free scrapbooking community or web page and show off your treasured moments for all your friends and family to enjoy all over the world?

How about having your memories bound in a real hard bound book, complete with full color custom cover that you design?  You can easily and for less cost than if you had hand scrapped the pages and put them in a glued together cloth covered 3 ring binder.

Whether you’ve considered scrapbooking before and decided it’s too expensive or time consuming, or even if you’ve never heard of scrapbooking and are not sure if it’s for you, we’re convinced when you’ve tried Digital Scrapbooking you won’t look back, and you’ll agree that it offers the best way to store and share your most treasured family memories.

Best of all, if you are anything like me, digital lets you create pages even if you have a handicap or when arthritis makes it hard to move your hands and fingers.  I even had my best handwriting made into a digital font so I can type my journaling notes and still have it in my own hand written style.

You sure can’t do that with hand scrapped pages!

Unlimited creativity, unprecedented quality, unrivalled flexibility

With Digital Scrapbook Artist, you’ll enjoy unlimited editing capabilities at no cost and creative freedom like never before.  What’s more you’ll be able to delve into a treasure trove of embellishments, backgrounds, edge effects, scissor like tools, stitches and simulated hole punches. Turn Holiday Cards into Treasured Keepsakes

Posted on December 18th, 2009 by admin.
Categories: Scrapbook Articles, Scrapbook Tips, Site Information, Training.

Hello My Dear Holiday Scrapbook Friend,

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanza and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Wes and I are all settled in at Millersylvania State Park in Washington State. We’ve been here since the 5th of November and finish up just before Christmas. Next stop is back to the first State Park we hosted at… Camano Island State Park. We are both looking forward to exploring more of the WA islands and western shores.

You’ll have to check out the photo stickers I made from the mushroom & hiking pictures we took here in the park. They are in the PC-ScrapbookElements.com section.

Are you ready for the holidays yet?

Turn Holiday Cards into Treasured Keepsakes

We got a great idea for Holiday Cards from one of our members a while back and I want to pass it on here again. It’s the perfect way to turn a simple Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanza card into a real keepsake.

Whether you make your cards or use holiday cards from the store, adding a family year in review letter on the inside will turn the card from just a nice gesture into a keepsake that friends and family look forward to receiving each year. I know we sure do.

If you make your own cards, and it’s so easy with digital scrapbook techniques and some card stock; you can easily print the inside of the card with a special holiday stationery and place your letter right there on the inside.

If you use boxed cards from the store, you can still put them through your printer and put a short letter on the blank part of the cards inside. If that isn’t enough room, you can use another sheet of paper and print your stationery and letter there. Then just include the letter with the card.

You may even want to turn the letter into a PDF file so friends and family can download it from your personal web site or you can eMail it to them complete with decorative stationery.

Don’t forget that you can get your totally FREE stationery downloads with no signups or hassles at: www.Free-Stationery.com or www.1-Computer-Stationery.com

We even just added 3 new    Christmas Stationery   , Hanukkah Stationery & Kwanza Stationeries to the site. We also just added a new A4 size category for all our European Scrapbook and Journaling friends.

If you are still in need of a really special gift that takes almost no time to create and is one of the best gifts you’ll ever give…

You can give our FREE Photo Calendars a try. They come all ready to just insert your photos, add any personal birthdays or events and then print as many as you need. They are also totally FREE with no signups or other hassles at:

www.FreeScrapbookTraining.com

Now, let’s go over the Scrapbook and Journaling news for this month.

New Landscape Format Sets –

We are working hard to get the new landscape (11×8.5) area called Scrapbook of a Lifetime loaded with new scrapbook template sets. I added 2 new categories for our Scrapbook of a Lifetime Landscape site:

Grunge and Kwanza

Pastels and Soft Expressions 8.5×11 and 12×12s

To date we have the Animals, Christmas and Halloween categories for Printable Pastels and Soft Expressions replaced with our new png format. I will be working on the New Years, Thanksgiving and Valentines categories next. So, get the ones you want on the site now before I replace them.

PC-Scrapbook Elements and Embellishments

I have 2 new ornament sets for our PC-ScrapbookElements site loaded now and I will be removing some of the alphabet tags and ornament sets in the Christmas category from this site after Christmas.

New Elements:

2 sets of Photo Stickers (Photo Art category)

2 sets of Christmas Stickers (Stickers category) Plus 2 bonus Christmas Stickers Mini-Frames (same stickers, but made into small mini-frames)

3 new alphabet tags (Santa and Church and Christmas alphs)

8.5×11 and 12×12 Scrapbook Templates

Just in time for the holidays, I have added 6 new digital scrapbook Christmas page sets to both the 8.5×11 and 12×12 areas of the members sections.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and that you truly enjoy yourself, treasure your family and friends and feel unconditionally blessed by the joys they bring.

Happy Holidays

Correction to the November Scrapbook Download News…

Posted on November 20th, 2009 by wwaddell.
Categories: Site Information.

Just a couple of quick corrections from the last scrapbooking news letter.

First, I will not be adding the kits & bits kits to the element site. What I meant to say was that I will continue using the elements from this site to create papers on our other sites.  That's what I get for getting in a hurry.

Second, the New PC-ScrapbookElements category is called Alph Words, not "Letters."  I have also replaced all the animal category now for Soft Expressions and am working on Printable Pastels and will have it done in just a few minutes from now as I write this.

That's it, have a great weekend everyone!

November Scrapbook Download News

Posted on November 18th, 2009 by admin.
Categories: Scrapbook Articles, Site Information.

Scrapbooking page of Millersylvania State ParkHello Scrapbook Member,

You are going to love what we have been up do the last few weeks.  REALLY!

So with no further adue…

Let's start off with something for everyone.  I just put a brand new mini-page on and it's all ready for downloading on our PrincessCrafts digital scrapbook homepage. No signups or hassels, just head on over and get it. It's a great winter time photo greeting page and should be perfect for you to use to send photo greetings to your family and friends.

For our 8.5×11 and 12×12 members – Your End of the Month additions:

I've replaced the entire first page of the animal category in the Soft Expressions (Computer Scrapbook Layouts) 8.5×11 and the Printable Pastels 12×12 areas of the sites with all new sets.

I've also added totally new Landscape paper sets for the Animal, Halloween and Thanksgiving categories under the Scrapbook of a Lifetime members area of the site.  All our platinum and gold members have instant access to the new sets.

With that I also replaced the 2 metal charm aqlphabets (Gold and Silver versions) on PC Scrapbook-Elements area with new versions. I also added to the brand new letter category with 21 6-piece sets of Gold Alph Letter Words.

I know, that's a mouth full, but it's some really great elements for you to use to create titles and phrases of your own with.

What's next to be removed and replaced…

I will be replacing the Halloween and Thanksgiving category for the Soft Expressions and Printable Pastels members areas the end of November. So, if there are any of those scrapbook page templates you want and didn't download yet, go get them now.

As part of our site consolidation and updates, we'll be totally closing down the Scrapbook Kits -n- Bits (not a part of any membership currently) site.  Most of it's parts and pieces will be slowly added to our PC-ScrapbookElements members area.

We'll also be adding some new A4 versions of our 1-Computer-Stationery in the coming weeks so our European friends won't have to do miss out.

That's it my Scrapbook friend.  Feel free to let us know if you need anything or if you have any problems with the sites.

Oh, one last quick note:

We are moving some of the public sites to more secure servers, so you may see some short drops in availability this next week.  They should be short in duration if you see any at all.

Happy Scrappin'

Kathy & Wes
